We encourage you to book an Exercise Assessment with one of our physiotherapists if you haven’t done Pilates before or had any training in proper activation of deeper core muscles (pelvic floor and transverse abdominus muscles).
During these assessments, our Physiotherapist will;
- take a history of any existing or previous injuries
- check through your movement
- teach you the correct technique of deeper core activation
- teach you correct breathing cues and neutral spine positions
Our team will go through the different positions you’ll find yourself in and some of the exercises, so not everything is foreign for the first few classes!
If you have any pre-existing injuries, this is when the Physiotherapist will discuss options to modify certain positions when in your class. Before starting your class, we recommend letting your instructor know of your pre-existing injuries. This will assist our instructors in providing suitable modifications.
We also encourage booking an Exercise Assessment if you are expecting and plan on attending any regular classes on our schedule that aren’t specifically a prenatal Pilates or prenatal yoga class. Booking this appointment will help to minimise risk of injury during class and provide education on signs and symptoms to be aware of during pregnancy as your body continues to change.
Depending on your private health cover, an Exercise Assessment may be claimable through your private health fund. We have HICAPS facilities to allow claiming after your appointment.
